Acquire info from the client as to exactly what he wants you to look for and report on. Arriving on site and not being able to do the job is not exactly conducive to getting repeat work.
Try to scrounge test pieces with in-service defects from your clients. These are of great assistance when describing to your customer what you see and then comparing the images with the test pieces.
Ensure that the machine’s battery is charged and that you take a battery charger or spare battery and an extension cord with you to site.
Know the limitations of the inspection unit, manoeuvrability of the camera head, access and retrieval methods, light levels, method of recording, monochrome or colour, product in pipeline.
